Linked Open Data for Research

Taskgroup Linked Open Data (LOD) supports FAIR data principles by making research data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. However, for many researchers, data stewards, and research support staff, LOD is still relatively new. The Task Group Linked Open Data for Research aims to make LOD more accessible, understandable, and practically applicable within research contexts.

The task group focuses on sharing knowledge and practical experience with Linked Open Data. Where possible, the group also aims to act as an intermediary between the research community and service providers (such as SURF) around LOD tools and services.

Its goal is to strengthen knowledge and skills around Linked Open Data, enabling better support for researchers and wider adoption of FAIR and interoperable research data practices across disciplines.

Linked (Open) Data is a key technical implementation of FAIR principles and aligns with the ambitions of the Dutch National Programme Open Science. This task group is open to members from all institutions and complements existing national initiatives by focusing on practical, research-driven adoption and training. All outputs will be openly available for reuse.
